What's in the free file

The free spreadsheet is three sheets, built to have you pricing a real Etsy sale within a few minutes:

• Start Here. A short setup guide and a Settings block where every fee rate lives as an editable input: currency symbol, listing fee, transaction fee %, payment processing fee % and flat fee, and an Offsite Ads fee % (defaulted to 0). A rundown of what the paid Etsy Seller Bookkeeping Toolkit adds is at the bottom.
• Profit Calculator. Price one sale: sale price, shipping charged, item cost, packaging cost, shipping you actually pay, and a Yes/No dropdown for whether the sale came through an Offsite Ads click. It works out revenue, each fee line, total fees, net profit and margin %, plus a reverse line that solves for the sale price needed to hit a target margin.
• Sales Log. A flat log with 100 pre-formatted rows -- Date, Item, Sale price, Shipping charged, Item cost, Shipping paid, an Offsite ad? dropdown, and Fees and Net columns that compute themselves from the same Settings. A "This month's net" tile totals the current month automatically, and a Totals row sums everything. Five example rows show the pattern.

That's genuinely everything -- there's no hidden fourth tab, no locked cells waiting for a paid unlock. What you see in the download is the whole product.

The Etsy fee model this spreadsheet uses

Every formula in this workbook uses the same fee model as our own paid Etsy Fee & Profit Calculator, so the free and paid tools never contradict each other. Revenue is sale price plus shipping charged, since Etsy's percentage fees apply to the full amount the buyer pays, not just the item price. From there: total fees = listing fee + (revenue × transaction fee %) + (revenue × processing fee % + processing flat fee) + Offsite Ads fee (only when a sale is flagged Yes). The defaults loaded into the sheet are commonly cited figures -- a $0.20 flat listing fee, roughly 6.5% transaction fee, and roughly 3% + $0.25 payment processing fee -- but Etsy's fees vary by seller location and change over time, so none are hardcoded into a formula. Every one is an editable cell on Start Here, and you should verify against Etsy's own current fee page before relying on this for pricing decisions.

The Offsite Ads fee is kept deliberately separate: it only applies to sales Etsy attributes to an Offsite Ads click, and the rate depends on how much you've sold in the past 12 months. It defaults to 0% and only kicks in per-row when a sale is flagged "Yes" -- set the rate once you know it applies to you, and unflagged sales are unaffected.

How to use it in Excel

1. Download the file and open it in Excel.
2. On Start Here, set your currency symbol if you don't use $, and check every fee rate against Etsy's current fee schedule -- update any that don't match yours.
3. On the Profit Calculator tab, enter one sale's numbers to see its fees and true net profit, and use the reverse line to find the price needed for a target margin.
4. On Sales Log, replace the five example rows with your own, or keep them as a reference and add rows underneath.
5. For each sale, flag the Offsite ad? dropdown correctly -- Fees and Net fill themselves in.
6. Check the "This month's net" tile and Totals row any time -- both recalculate automatically.

How to use it in Google Sheets

The file isn't a native Google Sheet, but importing it takes under a minute and nothing about the formulas or the dropdowns breaks in the process:

1. Open Google Sheets and go to File > Import.
2. Choose Upload and select the .xlsx file you downloaded.
3. Choose Insert new sheet(s) (or "Create new spreadsheet") and confirm.
4. All three tabs come in together, with both Yes/No dropdowns and every formula intact -- nothing needs rebuilding.
5. From there it behaves like any Google Sheet: log sales on Sales Log, price new ones on Profit Calculator, and the totals keep themselves current.

What the free version leaves out

This is meant to be honest, not a teaser with the good parts hidden: the free spreadsheet is a genuinely smaller product, not a crippled version of a bigger one. Specifically, it leaves out:
